Description:

GEOPIG analytical facilities are equipped with High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (HR-ICP-MS), ion chromatography (IC), gas chromatography (GC) and microwave digestion systems. This allows us to measure dissolved major, minor and trace elements in aqueous samples in ppb and ppm levels, as well as gas compositions (H2, CO2, CO, CH4 and organics) in gaseous and liquid samples. Solid and liquid samples can be digested with the microwave digestion system for elemental analysis.

CEM Mars 5 Microwave Digestion System

The CEM Mars5 is used to digest solid and liquid samples, such as soil, rock, oil, plastic, lichen, leaf samples, prior to elemental analysis.

Dionex DX120

The DX120 is dedicated for cation analysis: Li+, Na+, K+, NH4+, Mg2+, Ca2+ in ppm level using Cation-Exchange CS12A column.

Dionex DX600

With Anion-Exchange AS11 and AS19 columns, the DX600 is set up for anion analysis: fluoride, chloride, bromide, nitrate, nitrite, sulphate, phosphate, bromate, lactate, acetate, formate in ppb levels.

Thermo Finnigan ELEMENT 2 High Resolution ICP-MS

The ELEMENT2 HR-ICP-MS is a double focusing magnetic sector mass spectrometer designed to resolve polyatomic interferences from analytes. It is used to measure total concentrations of trace elements, some rare earth elements and some minor and major elements (ppb levels). Currently, it is set up for aqueous samples. Solid and liquid samples can be digested with the microwave digestion system.

Varian CP3800 GC

The Varian CP-3800 GC is set up for running gaseous and liquid samples for dissolved H2, CO2, CO, CH4 as well as dissolved organics.
